  • Meet quarterly for Board meetings
  • Join at least one committee and meet twice quarterly

  • Stay informed about organization’s activities
  • Assist with board operations and decision making including strategic planning, policy setting, board recruitment, and other organizational decisions
  • Provide support and advice to the Executive Director
  • Support and develop antiracist programs and policies
  • Secretary is responsible for taking meeting minutes at full board meetings and handling all the documents and records

Seeking Volunteer Board Members for Beavers Northwest

Beavers Northwest (BNW) is looking for new board members for our small but mighty nonprofit. BNW increases acceptance and understanding of beavers to support healthier and more resilient ecosystems by providing technical assistance, technical training, education, outreach, and supporting research and restoration. The projects and programming of BNW have historically focused in King, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties. The BNW board is composed of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and 2-3 at-large positions. We are seeking a Secretary and 1-2 at-large members.

Preferred Qualifications

Our current board strengths include knowledge of wetland ecology, wildlife (including beaver) ecology, environmental education, and freshwater ecosystem research. We are seeking board members with one or more of the following skills to strengthen our organization:

  • Financial management and/or accounting skills
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks Online
  • Business acumen including sustainable growth strategies
  • Understanding of contracting processes and best practices
  • Nonprofit knowledge or experience including organizational policy creation, nonprofit legal requirements, fundraising, and donor management
  • Appreciation and enthusiasm for Pacific Northwest aquatic ecosystems​
